Kathy Fogarty is the daughter of a retired Baptist minister. At the age of thirteen, she thought she accepted the
Lord into her heart, but after ten years of service in the church, she realized she had only been playing the part.
On a Sunday night in 1984, she realized that it wasn'twhat she did, but what Jesus had already done. It was then
that she really began living the part. Kathy grew up singing Southern Gospel music with her family and traveled
all over the southern United States. The Hunt Family recorded and produced two albums. In 1996 Kathy co-founded
and performed on the Mansfield Music Mill, a country and gospel show, in Mansfield, Texas. It was here that the
members of Southern Charm would meet and perform their first song as a trio. Kathy is married to a wonderful man
named David and has 2 beautiful children, Kristen and Joshua. They live in Crowley, Texas. |
Karen Dominey knew from a very young age that she wanted to sing. At the tender age of five, she would stand in
front of the TV and pretend she was Brenda Lee, red hair and attitude included. Karen grew up with an alcoholic
daddy. Her mother did the best she could raising a bunch of children alone. Her only knowledge of Jesus was through
a children's Bible story book that someone gave her. Even with such little knowledge about Jesus, she somehow always
felt He was there. As an adult, Karen has fought many battles with cancer, but it was through the life of her special-needs
son that she finally gave her life to the Lord. Now she sings only for Him. Karen performed gospel music on many
of the local opry shows, including the Mansfield Music Mill. She also donated her talents to Mission Arlington,
an outreach program. Karen is married to a wonderful man, Jim Dominey, who is a lieutenant for the Fort Worth Fire
Department. She is a homemaker in Alvarado, Texas and is blessed with two precious children, Alissa and Brandon
and two step children, Johnna and Jimmy. |
Diane Brown grew up the last of nine children in a Catholic family. Born in Iowa, she moved to Texas at the age
of fifteen. In the 80's, she sang in a country band with her sister and at the local oprys before moving to Branson,
Missouri in 1992 to perform as a back-up singer for Shoji Tabuchi. After spending three years in Missouri, Diane
moved back to Texas where she met Karen and Kathy at the Mansfield Music Mill. Though she accepted Jesus as her
Savior in 1988, Diane quickly fell back into the world. It wasn't until 1996 that Diane rededicated her life to
the Lord and started singing with Southern Charm. Since then, the Lord has done marvelous things in her life. The
Lord uses Diane's testimony with bouts of depression and low self esteem to touch hearts wherever she goes. She
is married to her wonderful husband, Jimmy Brown. They reside in Ft. Worth, Texas. |
It was in the "very merry month of May" in 1996 when Kathy, Karen, and Diane came together
for the first time. Karen had a desire to sing with a group, so one evening she called Kathy and invited her over
to hear a song. Shortly after Kathy's arrival, they called Diane to join them. The three barely knew each other,
but quickly got acquainted. Once the ice tea was poured, they cuddled up around the kareoke machine on Karen's
bedroom floor and started singing "In The Presence Of Jehovah". That very moment was a life changing
moment for all three of them, for it was at that very moment the Lord birthed the ministry of Southern Charm.
Southern Charm has always felt a strong calling to minister to hurting people, Christians and non-Christians alike.
Through powerful testimonies of God's love, grace, and healing power, these three ladies allow God to minister
to people's deepest needs and restore their joy. They truly believe there is joy in the joumey. |
Thank you for the privilege of sharing.
Jesus loves you and so do we,
Kathy, Karen, and Diane |
